SAIL recorded the highest daily hot metal production of 18,287 tons
Feb. 19, 2021 - SAIL, Bhilai steel plant recorded the highest hot metal production of 18,287 tons from its blast furnace on February 17, 2021, past 18,208 tons of hot metal produced on January 14, SAIL, records the level by crossing best record. The production of 18,287 tons of hot metal on February 17, 2021, is the highest daily production ever by any steel plant in the sale.
Director-in-Charge SAIL-Bhilai Steel Plant, Mr. Anirban Dasgupta, reached out to the blast furnace today to personally congratulate the blast furnace team and expressed confidence while discussing with members of the concerned departments that this increase in hot metal production in the coming days will continue
He apprised Team Bhilai of the congratulatory message of SAIL, Chairman Mrs. Soma Mandal, and Mr. Harinand Rai, Director (Technical, Projects, and Raw Materials) of SAIL. When Mr. Dasgupta reached the blast furnace, CGM Incharge (Iron), Shri SR Suryavanshi, CGM (Blast Furnace) Shri Tapas Dasgupta, and other senior officers of Blast Furnace and related shops were present.
SAIL and plant management congratulated all the shops and departments for their excellent performance. While congratulating the entire team of Blast Furnace and the people associated with their respective shops and departments, ED (Works) Shri. Rajeev Sehgal expressed confidence that many more milestones will be crossed in the coming days and Team Bhilai will meet expectations too. Bhilai Steel Plant has always progressed as a team and this teamwork is the strength of Bhilai.
Shri Sehgal further said that several steps are being taken to increase productivity and efficiency. Congratulating Team Blast Furnace for producing this record, Mr. SK Dubey, ED (P&A), said that Blast Furnace is the perfect blend of dedication and enthusiasm in the fraternity.
The graph of the performance of SAIL-Bhilai Steel Plant has been steadily increasing in the third quarter of the current financial year. On 14 January 2021, when the plant recorded hot metal production of 18,208 tonnes, it was successful in breaking the ten-year-old record of 18,182 tonnes made on 14 August 2010.
In addition to achieving record levels of hot metal production through BSP management efforts, Steel Melting Shop-3, Bar & Rod Mill, SMS-2, Ore Handling Plant, Refractory Material Plant, Sinter Plant, and many other associated shops Continuously improved. In order to meet the increasing demand of TMT 32 times in the market, in order to increase the availability of billets for merchant mills, a strategic decision was taken to convert Bloom received from SMS-2 into billets in rail and structural mills.
